Dan Egger-Belandria

Although his heritage is based in Venezuelan culture and music, Egger-Belandria's playing style is rooted primarily in Afro-Cuban tradition. Having studied with Cuban-drumming masters Changuito, Anga and Enrique Pla, Amadito Valdez and Carlos Gonzales, he is an accomplished conga, timbale and drumset player.

He has recorded in various musical genres, and performed in opening acts for Latin jazz superstar Poncho Sanchez and reggae great, Burning Spear.

Egger-Belandria has made lifelong commitment to the art of Afro-Cuban drumming, but he also has studied jazz at the University of Missouri and Brazilian drumming in New York City. He is currently working with his Latin music quintet, Caurtomango.
